Stu Drums The Breakfast Club Eighties Cover Band
Stu 'Drums'
Stu began learning the drums at the age of 12 in 1982, trying desperately to keep up with Clive Burr from Maiden on the practice pad. After a few months of this he thought "I can do this I reckon!". Phase II was to con someone to buy him a drum kit (because his paper round money was spent in the shop where it came from) so time to tap up the parents.
His first Drum kit was a really battered 5 shell Premier, it had single heads, was red and the cymbals were awful (if he remembers correctly he painted them with Hammerite!!?!). While all this art was going on he was getting some starting lessons from a very good local musician called Jimmy, who taught him some good stuff and got him progressing nicely.
Many local bands were toyed with - some good some really bad. He bought himself a brand new Yamaha 9000 recording series drum kit from Brum with a full array of Paiste cymbals and was quite happy for a good while. Later on in life the bands did get better and he ended up in the studio a fair bit and did some satisfying gigs along the way. By 1995 he was completely hacked off with musicians and all the "bollocks and bitching" that entailed so he threw in the towel, sold his drums and concentrated on getting a decent job.
But by 2005 he started to think "there's something definitely missing from my life, yep it's being in a band!". So he bought some new gear and put an ad on the net that stated, "experienced drummer wants to join or form a real 80's pop/rock band". The ad was on no longer than a couple of days when some dude called Ade phones him up saying that they were forming a band that was looking to do only 80's stuff and were currently looking for a drummer!
Aha job done, the internet what a wonderful thing
